Just purchased a new car 2005 octavia diesel

Featured Replies

So just recently purchased an octavia 2. and the seller didnt have the radio code, the dealer wants me to take the car in + pay £40 which is more than a second hand radio would cost (delivered to me)

So i just wondered if there is a way to get the radio cost some where else. I can remove the radio and look for any serial numbers etc if needed.

Also for some reason the radio has gone into "SAFE" mode, which I dont understand, because ive never attempted to input the code before.

I assume i have to wait like 1 hour or so with radio turned on uninterrupted?

help appreciated.

Leave the radio in and it will come out of safe mode fairly soon.

Try eBay for radio codes. Less than £10 I believe. Never used any myself but there are threads on this forum about them.

Check out vag-radio-nav-codes (seller name) on E-Bat. £8.99. Money back guarantee. I had mine within 24 hrs. 100% feedback !!

E-Bay !

Correct about the 1 hr. The previous owner has obviously tried to enter the incorrect code too many times. I left mine with the power on for 1 hr and then I could enter the code.

I will try that ebay source you suggest.

Much appreciated :)

Not that you probably need it but I also used the same ebay dealer for a radio code and received the code in the afternoon after ordering in the morning and it worked perfectly.

May be worth seeing if the code has been written on the back of the stereo. If it isn't, at least you haven't spent anything. But if it is, happy days!

heh I actually checked and there was a hand written 4 digit code on the back , great i thought, however it didnt work :( so i decided to get a code from ebay.
