Doing a FL issues with xenons

Featured Replies

Hi all just doing a face lift on my vrs estate. I've sorted out all body panels and the wiring for the drls no problems. Now when I've come to fit the headlights the multi plugs are different which I have ordered. The problem is that the lights I've got are active xenons lights not just normal xenons. Has anyone managed to fit these to a pre fl or even got them on a fl? Didn't know they even existed.

What do you mean by "active xenon lights" ?

Please give more input data...

Or you think if a AFS xenon on FL lights on FL? (are moving left-right with moving a steering wheel while driving)

If you have them it will still fit onto pre-FL and work but you will need to retrofit/implement the AFS module (it goes behind Climatronic panel, in dash).

I have this retrofitted as part of pre-FL vRS to FL vRS project (hatch).

Bordnetz is also changed (to 3C8...)

Thats it AFS. So without that module would the lights work as normal? (Eg just move up and down not side to side) do you have the module part number pls? Oh whats bordnetz?

You still need the module as all wires plug on it

So it wouldn't be possible to run them like normal xenons? Have you retro fitted it to your car? if so did you buy it in kit form from the dealers

I have retrofit xenon to my car. got xenon headlights off ebay then got levelling system and wires plus the module from diferent places.

I could recomend to by a levelling kit from carsystems and also had to buy a male/female short harness from original normal headlight to new xenon headlight

Would that module behind the climate panel be there for car with xenons as standard, but would need upgrading to the new module with AFS? Sorry for all the questions but haven't got much more hair to pull out!

Yes you need to upgrade module, for "normal" xenons (pre-FL) is different module then it is for FL with AFS. But module is not so expensive so you can be relaxed on that... This 'old' module from pre-FL vRS with OEM xenons I have one extra as spare, if someone need...(from my car, full working condition)

I have a pre-fl with factory fit xenons. To get AFS is it as easy as just changing the module?

No...you need module, FL xenon lights WITH AFS, new grill mask from FL, front bumper from FL, front panels from FL...holders, ..., and this is then become to be a FL project then ;)

Damm thanks Nickolas. Thats that idea out the window then

Could someone please post a picture of your multi plugs that have done the headlight conversion or wiring diagram. Thanks

If it is a 3C8937049E then I have one

Nick did you have to run a canbus wire for both the headlights for AFS?

Cheers

Thanks for your reply Nick, Eddie & alberg I have ordered that module should be here soon. It's just wiring up the lights now that we're stumbling on. My election thinks that we might have to run another wire for the lights but im not sure. Could you confirm this please. (Sorry Nick just noticed that it's sent you 3 pm's. It was only meant to be 1.)

I used the harness above.

There is harness with 2 extra wires that are used for bixenon headlights

Hi alberg that loom won't work for me as my car already has xenons as standard. Another question for Nick did you wire the lights on your car or did someone else?

Ok, the wiring is exactly like on the 2006/2009 passat.

I put the module next/ behind panel where the leaver for opening the hood is located inside the car.

I think you will have 10 wires into the headlight plug.

Hey...I can check wires in plug...but earliest next week wednesday...I am not close to the car right now...sorry.

It was three years ago when this project have been done....

That would be great if you could please. Got the basics working just no levelling or cornering function as im at a loss. Got my module today so will fit that at the weekend and the car needs a blitz so got plenty to do.
