Changing rear break pads

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm hoping to change my rear break pads on my Skoda Fabia 1.4 2002.  I've got the wheel off and I'm now attempting to change the break pads.  Am I right in saying that there are two nuts to be taken off in order for me to change the break pads.  Any advice?  It's all pretty corroded.  Am I right in saying that this bolt is a 13 mil?  Thanks.

The rear calliper is bolted to the holder by two guide pins. These are there so that the calliper can be retained but is free to move side to side when necessary. You need a ring spanner and an open ended spanner, the open ended spanner is needed to stop the guide pin rotating.

Now, I'm not being nasty, but, if you are asking these questions maybe you should buy a Haynes manual for this car, and you will need a piston rewind tool as the piston will need "zeroed" to gain enough room to get new pads in.

Not being nasty at all.  Thanks.

Excellent, having a Haynes manual is very useful as it lets you see any possible nasties before they happen, I've been working on cars for years and I feel a lot happier if I can get a Haynes manual as it has all the torques along with helpful advice, lots of people say that they are crap - but that is a relative term!!

My current car does not as yet have a Haynes manual, so it is not so good to work on.

Another source of info or help, maybe have a look other areas of this forum, like FAQs .

I'm wrong, try "Fabia Technical Guides" area and "search" function - this MUST have been covered in the past DEFINATELY (I hope!)

Surely a 1.4 Fabia has rear drums not discs?
