Another Tsi engine failure?

Featured Replies

I recently posted about my car suddenly being massively low down in power and making a screeching noise. Initially thought it was the turbo and then with further investigation, the fuel pressure sensor. That has now been replaced, unfortunately, new fault codes are coming up on VCDS and it looks as if the tensioner has slipped. Had a text from the fella looking at it which is as follows;

Hi Nick, bad news. fitted sensor no different still screaming from fuel lines and no power. Got a new fault with VCDS now... 000022 Cam and crank incorrect correlation possible chain jump. Checking it with VCDS, data block 93 comes up with -33' phase position.

So, really really bad news. When I get chance later, I'll read the engine failure thread.

I know Skoda have paid out for some engine replacements. Mine is 4.5 years old, 45k, but is also modified including a remap.

What chance, if any, do I have of getting any help from Skoda UK?

Anyone? Am I screwed?

To save you looking elsewhere, the TPI relating to damage of timing chain tensioner states:

Customer statement / workshop findings

Engine cannot be started, the Check warning lamp is on.

In the engine CU, the following fault is stored:

00022 P0016 CMP Sensor - G40 Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor - G28 Incorrect allocation;

00808 P0328 Knock sensor 1 - G61 Circuit.

If you read the 1.8/2.0TSI engine failure thread, you will see that a significant number of members have received goodwill contributions from Skoda UK where their cars have a full Skoda dealer service history.

I checked Block 93 on my 1.8TSI earlier this week. The readings were:

Engine speed 760/min. Engine load 14.3%. Phase position Bank 1 intake -1.01 degrees.
