What a difference a day makes!!!!

Spoke to a different lady this morning & all sorted :)

Car being delivered week on Wednesday, could have been sooner but need to have the day off work, & Monday & Tuesday not possible.

So last few days in the S4 (sad times), can't wait for the R (good times) :)

Imagining the jealous neighbours faces as the scene unfolds on delivery day :D :D :D

glad it's sorted! as been mentioned already, can be tax via AFRI in about 30secs.

But they're STILL making you wait another week assuming that next Monday or Tuesday were the earliest days they could offer?

3 flamin' weeks they'll have had it then, and going by what you said up there somewhere ^^^, you're going to have to hire a car this week as your old one has got to go back?

Must make a mental note of not dealing with this dealer of yours if ever I want a VW.

In theory I could go get it myself this week, but I'm happy to let them deliver it to my house which has put in an extra few days. However I quite like the idea of a new car being delivered to the house.

My current car is being sold this week, and I may have use of it till next Tuesday if I'm lucky, Friday if I'm not.

I suppose the reason I'm not bothered too much about rushing with the new car is I actually love my S4 & I'm going to miss her :(

......but not for long :D

Your car should have been ready after 4 or 5 days tops, but I suspect the delays were down to organising delivery.

I know when I got my LEAF (from Devon) it was ready almost immediately.

But I would have to wait two weeks for delivery.

So I got a lift down there and drove it back 200 miles the following day with my trusty Ecotricity card. :)

Yep, bob on, apparantly 5 day lead times for booking transport after everything has been finalised.

Would go and get it sooner, but -

a. its a lease and it would add 200miles.

b. I still like my car so 1 more week will just delay the excitement :)

Genuinely interested to hear how you get on with the Golf R.

There is little out there that actually interests me on the new car front, all the cars people go on about buying after a Skoda I generally couldn't give two hoots for.

But this Golf R is supposed to be rather good.

EVO magazine rate it highly, it's thier current best hot Hatch with the Fiesta ST in 2nd place.

They do generally know far more than other magazines and I agree with a lot of their opinions, they are the only people that keep saying the GT-R doesn't drive itself while everyone else doesn't push it enough to get it to life, giving loads of Porsche drivers a quote to repeat to justify paying more for a slower car.

But anway, let us know how you get on, especially when the "honeymoon period" is over after six months and you are used to it.

That's critical time for me, it has to be very good to survive six months.  Only the Yellow GT-R and the Yeti have passed this test in the last three years, with the latter having really found it's way into my life.

Will do an initial impression & then follow up with a proper 'living with it' report a few months later :)

As you say it takes quite a while to understand all a cars strengths, quirks and foibles.

Be interesting to compare it going from the S4 aswell especially as the Golf comes with 3 pedals & a pudding stirrer :D

Even better.

You've gone for fun and interaction over outright speed and electronic repeatable 0-62mph times.

I salute you.
