I really like that RS honeycomb design, but I can't find it anywhere - I'm considering making it homemade myself.

Cutting it from this one or something like that.

Home made. Cut out the vertical plastic parts, smooth it up a bit and bond the honeycomb in place

I knew id seen a car with this already done, been driving past a new shape octavia vrs with this mesh and i was thinking about doing it.

Maybe a little better - but the depth is more like 10-12 mm. That's why I think it has to be made from a OEM grill, like on the Golf GTI etc.

I actually really like your car, and in my personal opinion of course, I think the honey comb just doesn't suit the Mk1 Fab at all. 

The vertical grill seems to suit it much better due to the boxy/straight lines of the car

Well, maybe you're right actually... Just done a fast comparison: (very fast, lol)

 

Pah!  Trouble uploading my pics, but I measured my Mk7 GTD honeycomb grill and found the 'cells' to be 20mm deep (front to back), and 60mm wide at their widest point.
