Vrs 2lt turbo cam chain...

Featured Replies

I am looking at getting a Oct vrs 59reg (should be here Monday) but I have read horror stories about the cam tensioner going bang

How bad were these?

How easy are they to replace?

What was the cost if the one I am looking at hasn't been done?

Cheers

Paul

Best to read the thread at the top of the page titled "1.8tsi & 2.0tsi engine failures" which will give you all the info.

A 59 plate is a early one & it seems the early ones are most prone to failing,id check if the car your looking at hasnt already had a replacement engine,if not id consider takiing out a warranty to cover yourself should it fail, its quite a job to replace the chain & tensioner so wont be a cheap job at a dealer.
