Paint on the tyres

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a product or technique for cleaning paint off tyres :(

It seems that I must have driven through some white paint on my way home today :thumbdwn: It came off the wheelarches and mudflaps ok but the tyres are proving to be tricky customers

I'm guessing it won't do them any damage but it just looks awful!!!

Paint them all white :D

Hmmm....you could try using thinner...with a mixture of water to neutralize it...but then again I don't know how much runner it would eat off anyway...try alcohol, that should work..or fuel...

I am wary about using thinners as it might destroy the rubber too...

I might try some alcohol - it might make me feel better :D

Do a burnout.

Angle grinder! :D

Ok , perhaps not. Scouring pad from the kitchen cupboard?

how about scraping with a sharp knife?

CAREFULLY

I used a clay bar when this happened to me - worked a treat.

Cheers for the tips folks!!!

I have got the sidewalls clean and the wheels arches and mudflaps are fine too so there is just some left in the treaded part of the front near side.

I must go and locate one of these 'clay bars' they seem like a must have :D

I think I will just have to go for another drive this evening and try and wear the rest away
