New Scout....

I like this bit..........

"This new Octavia Scout will only be offered with two diesel engines in the UK, a 2.0-litre four-pot with 147bhp, and the range-topping 2.0-litre with 181bhp and 280lb ft of torque. It's the same engine you get in the Octavia VRS, though the Scout will actually accelerate to 62mph quicker than that VRS saloon (7.8 seconds vs 8.1 seconds for the saloon)."

A standard Scout quicker than a standard vRS with the same engine.

Because I has far better traction and can actually use the power and torque far better than the fwd VRS can. Quite liking that Scout I have to say but why no 1.8TSi engine option!  :dull:

Sounds spot on.

The Yeti 170CR 4x4 was already faster on a typical UK road in UK weather conditions than the Octavia VRS with the same engine.

Such is the limitations of sending the power to the end of the car that goes light when you accelerate sharply.

Seems to me like someone should use the scout underpinning, lower and add vrs bumpers etc.  :notme:

the standard Octavia 4x4 would probably be a better donor for that project. :)

It's hardly worth if for a couple of tenths on a flat out sprint.

Sounds spot on.

As I found out at how fast whilst following you, you could get on the power a lot sooner than I could.

I still think the vRS should be available in 4wd.

That would be treading on Audi's toes a bit so probably wont be allowed

Mmmm I don't think the octavia vrs is ready for 4x4 yet. Not until it has some serious power that it actually needs it. It would also bump up the price.

Octavia mk 1 forum all over again.

Now if the can just put in a 6 pot petrol and derv we'll all be good.
