Seat belt warning & fuel gauge

Featured Replies

Hi all

I was in brain fade mode yesterday and started off without my seat belt on. :o

so have just discovered after all these months ( 4 ) that there aint no

seat belt warning light ..... very strange in these days of lights for everything ...

with all the extras on the vRS I was expecting a hand to reach out from the dash

and grab me by the ( you can put your own word in here ) ;) to remind me

also have come to the conclusion that the fuel gauge is not very reliable

it seems to hang on full for a long time then when down to about 1/2 full....

it goes down very quickly to the warning light ...... which is annoying

in as much as I am congratulating myself on my exercising discretion

with my right foot ....... and thinking I can get another few days without

visiting the 96p per litre diesel fuel imporium ...... :(

on a more positive note I just love driving this car .........

its the dogs whats its !!!!!

My 2001 car had the 5 or 6 seat belt bongs warning to remind you to put your seat belt on when you turn on the engine. Really annoying as I always started the engine before putting on my seatbelt, and it looks like they dropped it in the 2002 model year :D

Never noticed the fuel gauge being quite so dramatic though - it did go down quicker after half way, but I wouldn't describe it as going down very quickly ... still got at least 200 miles from it before the dreaded "the world is about to end" beep :D

Yep I could imagine a seat belt bong would be a pain ....... but a small icon

on the instrument panel would`nt go amiss ..... I also usually start the motor

before putting on my belt ....... my Peug Partner van just shows an icon.....

thats the problem multidrop deliveries during the day sometimes make me

forget :o

I have a 2004 Octavia and have grown utterly sick & tired of that damned noise as soon as I switch on the ignition. I asked my dealer to disable it, but they failed. When I asked them again they aparently consulted SkodaTechnical, who searched the 'knowledge base' but failed to find a solution.

It's a pity they did not seach the seat base instead because they could have then done the job properly.

If you look at the seat belt stalk on the driver's side you will notice a thin wire running down it. this is the wire from the sensor in the latch.

It runs under the seat to a two pin connector on a plastic carrier under the front of the seat. Once you have found this connector, unplug it and the system will think the seat belt is latched and will not chime at you any more.

Hope that is of help to someone.
