Yet another new Octavia owner

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've just bought a new to me 09 1.9 tdi octavia elegance estate.

I'm struggling with all the new bells and whistles from my old fabia ambiente.

trying to pair my phone with it today instead of the skoda bt my scan found a kufatec fiscan. The default 0000 and 1234 codes don't seem to work and a google for the handbook confused the hell out of me.

Any help as to where to look would be really great ( I did a search on the forum, but as I'm not fitting it, I couldnt find anything)

Thanks again

Ok have been in a step learning curve. Gotta love google!

Whatever version of kufatec I have it doesn't have maxidot ( so cannot reset it) kufatec say the bt code should be 1234, and that to reset it I will need vcds software.

That's where I am right now.

Resetting the radio won't help, as it's an aftermarket addition, so I am searching for vcds software and a way to reset the damn thing.

if anyones been down this route and knows how where why etc let me know now.

Hi,

VCDS owners are listed here:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/224376-vcds-owners-map/

VCDS software is £210+ (depending on dealer and version) Don't be tempted to buy a dodgy copy from eBay as you'll get no help from anyone on here. RossTech, creators of VCDS, are members on here too, their reaction to pirate copies is best (and safest) described as "less than pleasant".

If it's just the odd thing you want/need done, look at the owners map and go from there. Most owners will quite happily accept  some "liquid reimbursement", but it does depend on the owner ;) ;)

Thanks for the info and for the don't buy knock off advice. Having seen what vcds actually is I've got to admit I'd be pretty afraid of turning my new car into a driveway ornament!

Should you take the plunge and have a legit one, you'll find there are more than enough helpful voices on here. Yes it is dangerous (one "version" of the acronym is Very Costly Dangerous Software ;) ) however, like anything like this, you just take your time and make notes on what you did. One chant you'll always hear is "autoscan first". This creates a file with the existing coding before you make changes.

However, if you just want a couple of things done (once or twice), it's probably far cheaper, quicker and safer to pick a local member off the owners map, or go along to one of the local meets. Quite a lot of the time someone will have brought their VCDS with them. ;)

The other reason for not going knock-off is very much along the lines of what you mention on the legit one: bricking the car. I'm not familiar with the protection built-in to VCDS, but you'd have to consider that the original program would have been hacked to circumvent the protection system..........who knows what else would have been done to the code. You could find yourself not only with a driveway ornament, but also a shiny bricked laptop to go with it.

Where are you based?

I'm in Sussex.

Spoke to she who must be obeyed who is distinctly unimpressed with my desire to have the bluetooth working, her exact words are along the lines of

we need the car not the $_&;/_€ phone.

So in the interests of marital harmony think I'll give it a rest for a bit :-/.

Fair enough. Too far away from me to offer my vcds anyway...
