DTUK box fitted to 1.6TDi

Featured Replies

I've always been a bit sceptical about tuning boxes (last one I had was an £80 eBay special fitted to an E46 320d 10yrs ago), preferring to go down the remap route on all my cars since then but the guys I normally use aren't able to do the EDC17C64 yet and it seems nobody can do them without opening up the ECU.

So I spoke to Andrew at DTUK yesterday about 3 o clock and box arrived this morning. Fitted in 5mins and have to say I'm very impressed, car feels much stronger and more willing to rev. Haven't noticed any downsides but will keep updated as I cover mega miles for work.

I did log boost and rail pressure before fitting and it seems I've gained 1PSi of boost, and rail pressure is up about 5% through the rev range but no higher at WOT on map 3.

Ive moved it to map 3+1 now and it feels like it's holding the extra shove closer to the red line now.

Anyone else here using one ?

How much extra did your insurance company charge for having a box fitted?

Nothing Wiily, almost at end of policy that was taken out on a higher grouped car I've moved from, in past experience of declaring remaps, it's usually been loaded by about 10%.
