2.0 tdi 170 PD engine noise

Featured Replies

Hi all before we begin the car I have is actually the leon fr tdi with the 2.0 tdi 170 engine. So the other day I took my car for a blast around the countryside when a fox decided on a suicide attempt causing me to steer out the way and drive over kerb which resulted in the bottom of my engine impacting with the kerb. The only damage noticeable at that time was a disconnected radiator pipe and broken drivers side top engine mount. I had the car recovered to a nearby garage and with an inspection carried out while on a ramp there was no damage to the underneath of the engine or the sump. Once I had the radiator pipe reconnected and engine mount replaced I was ready to be on my way when I heard a weird vibration noise coming from the top of the engine when either stationary or driving between 1750-3000rpm at which point after 3k the vibration noise quietens down to a minimum. The noise is very apparent from inside the car but once you pop the hood it's obvious the noise is coming from the top head of the engine. There is no depreciation in power at all it's just the horrid noise which merges at the aforementioned rev ranges. I've had a couple of mechanics take a look but they have said it's very difficult to source the problem without having to dismantle the top of the engine but they seem to think it can either be the crank or camshaft, weird as the impact was to the bottom of the engine :/ Anyway here I am for some advice as I need to get this problem sorted without being slaughtered by mechanics on making more money then they should.

I have posted on the seat cupra forum but if I'm honest they are extremely unhelpful as opposed to briskoda as previously when I had my furby VRS, I was always greeted with substantial amount of advice.

Thanks in advance guys
