Signed the paperwork on a 1 year old 1.2 Tsi Elegance last weekend.  12,500 miles and just had its first service.

 

Really impressed with the car during the test drives, felt so tight and solid compared to my 2008 Xsara Picasso.  Found the dealership (Meadens in Sway) to be very helpful, and was pleased with the overall deal.  Have asked them to check the 'rainwater in the rear doors issue' before I collect the car - anything else I should be wary of or asking them to check?

A one year old car felt tight and solid compared with a six year old car!  I should hope so!  Enjoy your 'new' car.

You did the right thing re the water in doors, have a look after and see if it looks like they have cut some sections out of the bottom of the door seal (you may have to get low down to check).

Can't see any cut sections, but I haven't had time to have a proper look since collecting the car.  Have enjoyed my first few days in it - my first Skoda, and initial impressions are good.  Yes, there is a little more road noise than you might expect, and some of the interior materials might not be quite what owners of other Skoda models have come to expect, but the car is well screwed together and very light and responsive. 

 

Have only covered circa 150 miles since the first fill up, but according to the trip computer I'm averaging 50.6 mpg overall, and have seen individual trips return as much as 56 mpg.  Most of my journeys have been on mixed roads covering at least 15 miles, with a few small local trips after collecting the car.  Haven't had the chance to load the car up yet, but this will change when I head off for the annual camping trip later this summer.  Need to find some roof bars now and have posted separately for some recommendations.

I'm waiting for them to give me news on my Rapid Sport soon.

Yes I did, was a toss up between that one and a virtually identical car in black.  Pros and cons each way, but on balance I went for the red because it was slightly cheaper, had recently had its first service and had a full size spare wheel.  Have always been a fan of Corrida red as well!
