Cannot believe my car has managed 158 MPH  (if you take a look at my other posts you'll know what ive had done).

The car has just had one if i's final tune ups just rolling road to go to see final power figures and can't wait.

Please see pictures in my gallery or type Front Mounted Intercooler and do a search.

H who performed the work at Ashford Motorsport in Dover Kent,is an expert mechanic, smashing bloke and tells things how they are and likes to do things properly or not at all, instead of selling them things that dont do anything or are not benifical and is passionate about engines and mechanics he hand builds components and regularly builds performance blue print engines for customers using original spec sheets.

He enjoyed working on my car and believes it is the best V.A.G car currently available. He HAND BUILT the FMIC which cost

158mph according to the speedo or a GPS?

EIther way it's impressive , but there will be quite a difference between the two

Thats only 11mph faster than mine can go.....according to Skoda ;):D

Top job though

My 4x4 with Blue Flame zorst, Allard Front Mount, Bailley DV & Jabba map goes way off the clock & will beat standard M3's in a straight line (restricted to 155) so I guess your figure is believable, It might go even faster but its on the rev limiter in top

and mine did 170+ as did jons / des's / various other too!

Chasing Supra's :D

Thought I hadn't dreamt it :D .Which of the above are modded 1.8T's? All of them?

VAG group engines allegedly best for tuning as the parts are designed for much greater stresses than is normally put on them..according to autocar.Probably not wrong if you can wring 170 out of them(if any of the original parts remain that is  )

Is that 158 indicated or verified by GPS or other reliable means?

interesting pics of the FMIC... i have to ask if the intercooler was hand bulit why go for that style why not go for the forge style with the In and out at one side? i was under the impression that long lengths of pipes coudl lead to loss of boost pressure.. in a similar way you get voltage drop through longs bits of wire...

i will note the number if my plans dont work out i will give him a call and see what he can do..

Thanks

Joel

Apparently it's better to have in and out at opposite side with inlet at top and outlet at bottom.

However' date=' you then have to take into consideration the piping to return the turbo inlet...all to do with flow and pressure loss...I think. ;)

Check out this following link for FMIC design.....interesting reading.

Intercoolers

yes yes i have read that before... and am basing my FMIC top secret project on the therory of that website... i was questioning about the in and out in this example because of how the pipes are run... if the pipes were run diffrenty i wouldnt question it..

Joel

A colleague of mine has had 158 (on the clock) out of his std Oct vRS, but it was down a steep hill!!!! on his private road!!!

Mine was built by Allards' date=' uses the opposite corner theory but re routes one over the top of the engine bay, works incredibly well, This Piccie hosted by Dennis (thanks again) shows the idea

Well glad to hear some people are also getting the most from their VRS, the speed was shown on a lap top within the car so was accurate, the most important thing though is it's the fastest car I have owned and the speed read out was real. I did the mods for ME no one else and more importantly did not do it to 'keep up with the jones's' thanks for people replys nice to hear from you all, but remember

''People who talk talk,

people who are doing it keep quiet and over take''.

Doing some very rough calculations - 158mph true speed is certainly possible with around 230bhp - a power figure which looks about right given the modifications to the car  .

Stu! SNAP! :D Although I noticed your turbo hoses actually route through to the engine. Mine's actually a solid welded up pipe through to the engine bay, which is why the angle grinder was needed so much. :D

Top job. Glad your happy with your mods to date you'll soon have the bug big style and have it up at 300bhp, by the way on Club SE a KO4 is up for grabs in the for sale section.

Also glad you didn't post this too near the Fabia section as WW3 would have been unleashed.

Meaning what?

For the sake of sanity of you, me and everyone else, don't even go there ;) There have been some moments where certain claims where questioned to a point where it got a bit long in the tooth, whether a claim was believed or not ;)

I'll join in on the: nice job :D however
