Service time - Brake fluid really needs changing?

Featured Replies

The national pricing deal applies to fixed not variable interval servicing and is the maximum that participating dealers may charge. Have you spoken to Vindis Skoda in Cambridge to see if they will do that deal for variable servicing? They have now done that twice for me.

Whilst it does say this in the small print my local dealer will happily apply the national pricing prices and still reset my service indicator to variable.

It also only applies to cars 3 years and older. Again my two local dealers were happy to quote me national pricing on my two year old Superb.

I'm not sure how old your vRS is but it is worth remembering that Skoda's goodwill gestures apply until the car is 5 years old. After this, full service history or not, then you are on your own.

Just over 3yrs old, so I'd like a couple more Skoda stamps in the book for good measure. Chances are nothing will happen, but if the car decides to throw the cam-chain I'd like every possibility of a good goodwill gesture.

So, at last took the car in for it's 3rd variable this morning. Managed to get Vindis in Cambridge to agree to the "national service pricing" even though this was a variable service.

According to the worksheet I had the following items replaced:

Spark Plugs

Oil

Oil Filter

Air Filter

Pollen Filter

I also had the brake fluid changed (the whole reason for this thread in the first place) and that little lot came to £308 all included.

Above it was mentioned that a lot of the parts are "replaced only if required" which does make the Skoda pricing expensive for what it is - but as the car is only a few months over 3yrs old I wanted to keep on getting Skoda stamps in case I require any kind of goodwill in the future.

Anyway - all done and I don't feel "so ripped off" when I know that all the serviceable parts were replaced.

Just drove past Walkers in Kings Lynn yesterday, which may be another possible for the future.

I can't lay my hands on the invoice, but all filters were changed on my TDI by Micks and a proper service, ie stuff was done not just "checked".

They also pointed out any snags which would raise an advisory come MOT time (top layer of cheap number plate peeling)

Trying them for my MOT soon. Will see how I get on.
