Just noticed wipers will not work whilst bonnet is up.

Did anyone know?

Haven't noticed on the yeti but our old Octavia scout was the same Vw tourans as well my brother in law spent ages one night trying to get them working on his touran he gave me a ring for ideas asked him if bonnet was up, it was shut bonnet problem solved.

FL Octy was the same - it is one of those odd EU safety rules.

Just a thought. Why would you need to turn the wipers on when the bonnet was up?

Colin

Colin, why wouldn't you?

Plus it would be rather difficult turning them on from under the bonnet...  :notme:

On the mkII and a a number of other VAG if the wipers worked with the bonnet open the wipers would hit the bonnet.

It's in the manual.

What Trundlenut said.

Maybe you also discovered that the wipers don't lift up properly when the bonnet is down? To easily change the blades, switch the ignition off then flick the wiper switch; they should perform a half sweep then park at the top of the sweep.

Did anyone know?

Yes

In manual.
