I need roof bars for the Octavia Estate 2005.   I think the SKODA ones will be too dear, so can anyone recommend a pair of locking roof bars which do the job?

Thule are my choice.

Can't recall what the part numbers are, but it's the standard square bars with feet that lock to the roof rails.

I use the LIDL ones. They are extraordinary good for the money (under £30), are aluminium and are lockable. You can even use T-track adapters in them for neat roof box installation. I've carried a large, heavy roof box on them for thousands of miles with no issues. 

 

However you are probably out of luck when it comes to finding them......They are a 'specials' item and are only in once or twice a year.

Hi. I'm no expert but got a set from Halford 4G ears ago and still going strong with/without top box. Went for posh ones but still cheaper than soda.

That's what I went for.

Made no sense to me to spend extra on whispa bars.

I don't leave them on when not in use either. The Thule stuff is very quick to fit and remove.
