Still use the sealant?

Featured Replies

Good afternoon, All.

I'm soon going to change my car...but more importantly, the colour.

My current car is a Jaguar and its a Silver/Grey/Gold colour.

I understand Jaguar paint is hard and my new car will be a Mazda, which I believe is soft like Honda paint. So, are there any precautions I need to be aware of going from hard to soft? (I can see you all smiling!)

Secondly its going to be a metallic red colour (I'll try to attach a photo of a similar car but I'm not too handy with technical things!) and I'm currently using a sealant (AF Tough Prep and AF Tough Coat) which I understand is best for light cars. So, should I change to a wax now that its a dark colour?

Many many thanks for any advice given.

Regards

From Jag to Mazda??? Mmmmmm!!!

Just keep using what you did before Mike

The only problem you may find is it scratching easily due to the softness

But the upside to that is that it will make you take more care ;)

AND

If it needs polishing

1. It corrects easily..with only a finishing pad

2. You would consider me to do it for you :)

Well...being a retired old fart, I realise I cant make full use of the 5Litre V8...especially around here with no motorways and not even a dual carridgeway! Also, Mazda have some amazing deals on at the moment.

With regards to bringing it up to you, Chris...that is something I am seriously considering.

Thank you so much for your kind advice.

Best Regards

Mike.

I'm a retired Old Fart too!! :giggle:  :S

It's well worth the trip Mike.

So what do you get when you get 2 retired old farts together? .... just askin'.... :giggle:  :giggle:

Hello, Chris.

I’m collecting my brand new car on either the First or Second of September.

I’ve told them to do the bare minimum regarding cleaning.

So, I’d like to bring it up to you on either Wed 3rd or Thursday 4th, when you can work your magic and hopefully give me some tuition at the same time.

It’s a 3 hour trip from here so at what time do you think I should arrive…bearing in mind the traffic situation and being a bit of a country bumpkin I’m not used to heavy traffic…especially as I wont know where I’m going. Maybe an overnight stay would be a sensible option…what do you think?

Please let me know.

Regards

Mike.

OooooooH...Nice one

For 10 or 11 Mike

Shall I book you in?

Yes please, Chris.

Which day...Wednesday 3rd or Thursday 5th?

How long do you reckon it'll take for you/us to do?

If I was to do it all in a day, what would be a good time to leave there...thinking about the traffic?

I meant 4th!

Probably around 4 hours as it wont need much correction work..just a light cleaner polish and wax/sealant and a willing participant!!

Going away tomorrow with uncertain WiFi access

Cu in September

Still dont know which day, Chris

Either day Mike

Weather dependant of course.

So I'll pencil in both days if that's Ok and we will decide a couple of days before
