vrs alarm questions?

Featured Replies

When I bought the car the alarm used to chirp, it doesn't do that anymore? Also now and then the led in the door stays on when I've got in, does anyone know why? Thanks in advance.

Usual cause is a dead siren. If its like the one in my Audi eventually the backup batteries leak all over the PCB killing it. If you can find someone local with VCDS they can scan the alarm module and confirm.

However it could also be a door microswitch acting up so it thinks a door is not closed properly.

The working life of the alarm siren is 6 years. They can last a lot longer than that but yours has done well to have lasted 8 years or so. The replacement cost is circa £130.

Ok cool. Thanks for the replies. Would that be why the other night my neighbour said the lights were flashing but there was no noise?

yes

a good way to test is by locking the car, then open it with the keyblade (not remote) after about 20 seconds the alarm will go off
