Best oil

Featured Replies

For a 1.8t engine, changing my turbo today as this one has let the oil seals go, got a brand new beach buggy turbo to go on with an uprated actuator should see me about 260 which is nice for now, so I need to know the best oil to use in these engines

Cheers ken

for me Motul is the best oil.Even consumption dropped from allmost 200ml every 1000km ,now after 2000km is next to nothing

Car is 13 years old and never removed the sump

What Motul are you using?

5w 40 fully synthetic, plenty of manufacturers to choose from. I use Gulf but thats my preference :-)

yes, 5w40 X-cess

Mobil 1 0w40 since Ive had it.  Always stays at MAX even between services.

yes, 5w40 X-cess

This is the synth right?

My 2.0l 8v has had semi in for its lifetime.

Would 10w40 6100 semi be a good choice? Used motul in my old alfas.

Is this the correct API standard for Skoda: VW 502 00, 505 00?

I think the 8valve petrols are fine on semi brit24

I use 5w40 fully syth in my 1.8T

I don't know but neither castrol or motul oil guides says nothing about 10w40 or semi for 2.0 engine

you're right.

But never a good idea changing from semi to full synthetic after so many years of running with semi. It can dislodge dirt and clog small oil galleries.

unless I could do a change over a few cycles. semi is 70% mineral and 30% synth I believe.

Motul says for AZJ 2.0 litre:

Use : Normal Intervals : Change 15000 km / 12 months Products : 8100 X-CLEAN FE 5W-30 (year-round)   : 8100 X-CLEAN+ 5W-30 (year-round)   : 8100 X-CLEAN 5W-30 (Below 15°C)   : 8100 X-CLEAN 5W-40 (Below 15°C)   : 8100 X-CESS 5W-40 (year-round)   : 8100 X-LITE 0W-30 (year-round)

semi is semi ,is old, cheap for old low compresion ratio enines from stone age :)

synthetic technology or Synthetic is semi syn base synthetic with full synthetic additives and is known as a HC oil ,is promoted as a synt oil to foul you but is not 100% synt

full synthetic or 100% synthetic is the one you want

yep I used to use 300v Motul in my previous car. excellent stuff.

Was quite surprised to see that they had been using semi in a fairly modern skoda engine. Even in the skoda garage they put semi quantum in.
