DV hollow whooshing noise

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought a mk1 VRS a few weeks ago, and at first the (OEM) DV made the sort of "tsch" noise I'd expect

However it's started making a hollow sounding whoosh noise now, especially when cold. Sounds kind of like blowing across the top of a bottle. Occasionally I get a fluttering sound instead.

I'm also getting the 17705 pressure drop fault code - is it likely the DV has had it, or is it possible that a vacuum leak somewhere would cause this? I haven't been able to find a leak yet..

Cheers in advance

I would start by checking the pipe that goes to the DV and the DV itself and go from there

Cheers - is there any simple way to test the DV is working properly?

possibly its packed up mate, I read if you can hear the fluttering noise its air hitting the turbo again, might be a good time to buy a nice forge 007 item

Or I have my old one that was in good working order, I replaced it with a forge 007 one.

feel free to have my old one if you like

Cheers all. I whipped the DV off to give it a test this evening. I prodded the diaphragm up and sealed the vacuum hose hole on the top and the diaphragm stayed up no problem. Also sucked into the vacuum hole and there was no air coming through... All suggest that the DV is OK I think?

I hear there are wastegates built into/on the turbo also? Any thoughts on if that could be the issue?

I guarantee it will be the DV or a pipe, when I replaced the turbo on the octie the vac hose was bent on top of the DV and it made turbo chatter, I knew it should have dumped instead so checked the pipe and sure enough it was bent, lengthened the pipe and tested again and it dumped
