Which firmware and maps can I use?

Hi mate this is the same unit as mine. You can straight to 4020 for earlier European units at www.rnsfirmware.com. Burn slowly to good media and pick the version with partitions in ratio 60:35:5.

The maps and music will need to be re-installed. You can go to v10 maps (or even v11 now) if you can get them but that is either a dealer at a usually high price (unless they are a good one) or an internet based provider, but they are usually copies.

The only words of caution are that the lasers on these older units are weak and the map load (not so much the firmware) can be temperamental, and you also run a very small risk of bricking the unit so its at own risk but personally I think too much is made of this.

As Adam says, make sure it is the 4020 for early units you are downloading.

Thanks guys. I have one issue. I don't have a PC or laptop. Just my phone and tablet. What about the dreaded battery drain?

Well you need a PC to burn it the firmware, not sure a tablet supports that? But PM your address and I will send you mine if you can return it?

No battery drain issues with a 2008 car...

No just firmware sorry. My maps were installed by a third party.

The main one is 7 digit postcode searching.

So just need to source V10 or V11 maps. Have sent you a pm

The time needs changing in the maxidot to 24h or 12h whichever it isnt currently. Or you havent got key in ignition?

I've never had to have my key in the ignition!

I always advise leaving it out so there is no temptation to turn it at all.

Probably the time format being different to what is expected.

Key allways out while firmware update... (and anny SD-cards) advice and instruction from everywhere...
