Oh no....

Featured Replies

So, I leave work tonight, I get on the road to go home, a nice leisurely drive, no major rush...and 6 miles into my journey I go to pass a cyclist and the car makes the most horrific whine...no smoke, no oilslick out the back but suspected turbo failure!! What we think is that the internal spline has gone...

Luckily, a few months back, I purchased myself a spare at a reasonable price so I am just sat waiting for the AA to come and recover me to my local indy (a good mate of mine who I worked with when we were both at a Skoda main dealer) and tomorrow, he will be looking her over and hopefully making her better without toooo much pain to my wallet!!

I am just thankful it didn't happen on the 4 hour trek back from Blyton last weekend!! Phew, that was close! Good job I didn't put her on track!!

Aww man close call. Good job you've got a spare

Hope it gets sorted easily and quickly Rob. If you need anything the. Give me a shout mate.

Unlucky mate, good job you got a spare though!

Oh not good hope you get her fixed soon

Maybe...it's another 30miles home though...

If you had been on track and it popped and you had brought the spare, I reckon a group of briskodians would have swapped the turbo for you there and then!

So, quick update...

Got the car recovered (eventually) last night to my mates garage.

Up early this morning to get the turbo replaced. Here is the old one...

Looks like I stopped the car just in time - the propellers are just starting to catch the housing, therefore no damage to anything was done - as you know, could have been a real PITA if they had shattered!!

So, a few hours later and the car is back on the road and I have managed to get into work only 2 hours late!

Now, what to do with the old one? Get it refurbed or hybrid??

Good job you didn't go on track! Even though you was tempted!

I was going to but by the time we popped out to get some shopping for lunch, we missed the briefing - sooooo lucky!!

As Jason stated about IF it had gone on track and IF I had the new turbo with me, I'm sure everyone would've helped to replace it there and then BUT it's unlikely that I would have brought it with me, in fact I didn't. That said, this is what I love about Briskoda, the majority of us are here for each other when we need assistance or advice!

My boot always has tools in it. Essential boot kit for a Skoda! Probably applies to the older ones now though. Would of lend a hand if needed.
