Here's an odd one !

Featured Replies

Columbus unit.

Sat nav – works

Radio – works

CD – works

ipod – works

SD card – works

Leave car in hot sun for a few hours, return to car, now,

ipod and SD card do not work and are not recognised

Run car with Air Con on full for a hour – still don’t work.

Leave overnight and everything is back to normal.

If I leave the car for a few hours in a covered car park and return, it’s not so hot inside as it was in the sun and everything is OK.

I find it hard to believe that the heat can have this effect. I have could understand if the CD did not want to play as it’s mechanical, but the ipod and card reader are solid state.

Has this unit got a life of its own?

probably a life of its own. update the firmware if you can

Yes, I've had the occasional 'funny' like that as it has been a very hot summer and leaving the car closed up raises the inside temperature to something like a pizza oven. After a few minutes with doors open or air-con working it sorts itself out. I don't function normally when cooked so can't expect Columbus to do so either .
