This car is a competition car, it gets rallied every year in the HRCR round. The engine that was in there was a Warrior, 2 litre Pinto with a 16 valve head, good for 200+bhp.

Here it is on the Cambrian Rally a year or so ago. Click the link as I don't know how to get Flickr videos onto the thread

As soon as it is in and running I will post a video.

Sherwood supply the engine already run in, it has been on the dyno for three hours, it is supplied with the carbs, manifolds and full exhaust as the everything is set up in the Sherwoods premises. Just install and compete.

You are welcome to stay here Taylor, I will take you to the forests to watch, I might even end up being chase car again in the M50 X5, should be a good weekend.

Which stages are being used in the Rally GB this year?

No idea yet, I am sure someone might know though, Graham??

I've found the main ones but was wondering if the National Group B also do exactly the same route as from what I remember it was slightly different Last year! ysyja7y9.jpg

I'll be at with Sweet Lamb if I can get time off or Dyfnant :)

Beautiful car!

:p

BD series motors - fabulous.

Such a sound from a well tuned 4 banger.

Never got to work on one of them, it was still twincams.

Nice.

I'm gonna be really picky though :D The Escort at 1m50s in the video has a 2.5 Millington in it and not a BDA. I know this because it's Simon Mauger's old car, co-driven by Brian Cammack who happens to navigate for me on 12 cars. He always tells me to go faster :D

I know the video did not show 100% BD engined cars. What they did have in common though is that they were all sideways and all flat out  :D

Technically a BDG as it is the 2.0 litre. It is tuned to run 261 bhp at the flywheel, maximum rpm is limited to 9250!

Well, I am sure a few of the more mature Briskoda members know what a BDA engine is?   The sound of these engines screaming through the forest at 9,500rpm was the norm before all wheel drive entered the rally scene, well, my friend has now fulfilled a lifetime dream, he has had one to go in his MK 1 Escort Historic forest rally car.

In addition to this he is entering Rally GB this year, which is also something he has always wanted to do.

We have started installing the engine, here are a few pictures from the garage yesterday.

They make a great sound when on full chat   :o

 I think I'm in love !

Belt Drive A type, if my memory serves me correct. Wasn't it effectively half a Cosworth DFV or was that a myth propagated for marketing purposes?

Mk2 RS1800 will be one of my cars should the big finger in the sky point in my direction (with sufficient vigour), along with a Mk1 Twin Cam/RS1600/Mexico or RS2000 (can't make up my mind which).

Nectar for the ear drums bu.none of it tops a BDA

Group B was a different animal altogether, very entertaining but also cost a few drivers there lives, the car above was particularly dangerous as the drivers seat was on top of the petrol tank  :o

If anybody is interested in a project, I know where there is a Ford Escort Maxi RS2000, it is an original homologation car, chassis number 007, it ran on P30FMC registration and is for sale.

It doe however need a bit of attention as it is in bits, everything is with it except a door, a few bits of glass and probably brake pads etc.  all this can be yours for around £15,000 then you will need to build it.

In its hay day, forest rally car.

Is that the Escort mk1 I've seen parked up across the road from the Ellesmere Port recycling centre ?
