Vrs Gigaro Wheels (with chrome rim) painted over before I bought the car

I bought my 60 plate vrs from a skoda dealer in March. It had the Gigaro wheels, black with the chrome rim round them. Upon inspecting the car prior to buying I noticed there was some slight curbing on one of the wheels and the dealer agreed to get the wheels refurbished by their authorised wheel and paint specialist. When I came to collect the car a week later I noticed that all of the wheels had been painted black around the chrome rim....presumably either the dealer sales man or the wheel specialist thought that they were supposed to be black all over the wheel including the chrome rim. I didn't say anything at the time as it didn't particularly bother me. However now the paint around the rim is coming off, and the chrome is showning through, looking as though I have curbed the wheel!! :/ Admittedly I have curbed 2 of the wheels which I need to have refurbished at a cost to myself, however I feel like I should be going back to the dealer getting them to remove the paint or repaint over the chrome at their cost, at least on the two wheels that I have not damaged but the paint is simply coming off the rim.

Any thoughts???

It's not chrome. I think it's simply the wheel alloy metal that's not painted... or painted then machined off. Personally I'd prefer for that bit to be black too but it's not good your paint is coming off. Sounds like their specialist isn't so special.

If you are getting two refurbed anyway I'd just chop the other two in for refurb at the same time. At least that way they will all definately look the same.

Certainly try the dealer if the wheels you have not curbed have got paint flaking off them (post some photos so we can see) but TBH you are probably better just getting all 4 done yourself.

A good job can be done very reasonably (from £20 a wheel) by citypowdercoating.co.uk (their website seems to be down at the moment, so try their Facebook page or call them)

If you are real OCD about your wheels (I assume not otherwise they would have bothered you when you collected the car) then you will need to try someone else.... but expect to pay £60+ per wheel.

I have personally used them before on some very old pitted Audi winter wheels and the finish was very good considering the state of the wheels when i took them in.

brothers done this, he is in dispute with dealer as they said it was parking damage, but its not the black paint is simply flaking off the spokes now in large lumps. looks like it was poorly painted instead of powder coated to me.
