Installing front speakers and 2 channel amp. Advice needed ASAP!

Featured Replies

I'm very much confused here.

I want to amp a set of componants in the front of my car.

How the hell do I do this?

I've got a 2 channel amp.

A set of speakers.

Wires

I can set up the amp, remote, live and ground. That's not an issue.

When I install the speakers, do I run new speaker wire from the speakers to the amp? What happens with the current speaker wire, the original in the door?

Plz help......

You could route new wire from speakers to AMP, if you do this the current wiring to front speaker from Stereo is going to be doing nothing apart from hanging off the stereo.

If you have a aftermarket HU then you can ignore those HU front speaker wires and use a RCA from HU to AMP for left and right speaker input channels.

And then your AMP  Speaker output is you new wire to speakers.

Alternatively you could at stereo end,  cut wires routing to front speakers, extend them and route to the speaker output on AMP. That way you will avoid routing new wires through  dash/door pillar and into the door Speakers.

Then wrap some insulation tape around the cut wires to HU as not needed.

This all depends on what HU you have and if it has RCA connectors.

Cheers buddy, however, when I shut my door after reattaching the door card after fitting the speakers, it did not open again. So, I improvised... My door car is now in 4 bits and totally destroyed. Just bought a new one from ebay. So, I now have no door card, managed to blow a couple of fuses, cut my hand and make my neighbours think I'm a maniac. Still, speakers are in, looking good, amplifier didn't turn up either. And my rear passenger door doesn't open either. And broke a plastic trim of the door. FML

Yeah, car has been a little bitch, but you know when u love that one car so much that u don't really care how much blood sweat tears and money goes into it? This is that car. Lol. I've had new scoobies, 330 bmws, e60's and all sorts. But I do love this car.

So, what I done to the door is:

I forgot that I actually had some inch spacers which I never used when I had the fabia vrs, so I used them instead of doing anything to the door. I did have to cut the door card to make it fit, but I'm going to neaten them up, make it look good. :-) I'll post some pics once completed.

I was going to do a guide on how to remove and fit new speakers, but rain kept coming, so I was dashing in and out of the car whilst doing it lol. I looked like such a fool!
