Rear ended at traffic lights....pay excess and claim it back

Featured Replies

You can put in a claim for injury up to 3 years after the event, so I'm guessing even the insurers accept some injuries take time to appear

Right it's been confirmed they have admitted full liability so I can go ahead and get it booked in for repair safe in the knowledge my no claims bonus will stay in tact and I will be able to get my £500 back, even if it does take a couple of months.

Yes,your no claims is intact

But you will still have to declare all this for 3 or 5 years and likely still get a premium increase

In writing?

I do have the admitted liability in writing. It took a while but arrived yesterday.

+1 on that

rear ended on the outside lane of the M1 after stopping & still increases premium . how that makes me more of a risk is beyond me

Statistics.

I've not had any increase in premium from my 2 previous no fault accidents - both being stationary at traffic lights. Not sure if I've been lucky or just statistically at my postcode it doesn't make me more likely to be in another accident...although being my 3rd rear ending I'm beginning to wonder what I'm going wrong!

Just got my car back and invoice has been sent to my insurers along with the receipt for my excess. Phoned Albany to ask how long this is going to take to get my my £500 back bearing in mind that the other party have admitted full liability......4 months if I'm lucky. Really don't understand how it can possibly take that long.

tell them you are charging interest on that money if its going to take 4 months

edit - at a random rate where you will actually get something ;)

Cheque arrived! The 4 months ended up being 3 weeks.
