Octavia Estate 1.6s 2010 No remote central locking?

Featured Replies

Hi there- I have recently bought the above car and it hasn't come with remote central locking, just 'key in' central locking (if that makes sense)- apparently, this was standard on the entry model?  Finding it a bit irritating, especially with a toddler and a dog in tow, mostly because it seems that I always have to go to the doors and unlock the boot via there as there doesn't seem to be a lock directly in the boot unless someone can enlighten me?? Thanks!

Snap - 2010 1.6 CR S here. Cleverly the brochure said central locking and me being a bit of a dunce at the time, thought there was only one type of central locking and I didn't bother to investigate until the car was on our drive. No boot lock either, so yes, you're going to the door each time.

You can buy a remote kit for these cars. I don't know the details but I have seen S spec Octavias with remote fobs, try a search on this forum I'm sure its been mentioned several times.

There's a tutorial on here somewhere for retrofitting a kit to the preFL, although I haven't seen the equivalent for the FL. Admittedly I never looked into it seriously, there could be a guide on Mk5 Golf forums for example. My local dealer (Alex Laurie, Liverpool) claimed that installing their after market alarm system would also provide a remote fob.

Easiest thing go to a good car audio centre and get a decent thatcham approved aftermarket alarm system installed.

This will give you remote locking and also provide you some ammo to reduce your insurance premium.

Get a insurance quote with the alarm 1st if its the same then just buy a £20 sniper alarm of ebay with the fob

Iv fitted a few into my cars in the past just to have the fob :)
