remap?

Featured Replies

Hi again all, been looking at a possible remap for my furby, I've got a 1.4tdi 80bhp. Anyone remapped one of these? Is the power increase noticeable? How safe are the remaps on your clutch Ect? Any help is much appreciated thanks :)

Hi vigyaz, great motors the 80ps 1422cc PD engine. Had one myself for 5 years. Plenty of torque. Some on here have remapped and had great results. I would strongly suggest not going beyond 120ps. It's the point the engine life is shortened and the clutch can also struggle. From memory Audi originally ran this engine at 130ps briefly and it became unreliable in one of it's cars. The flywheel does not have a DMF either which would be of concern longer term too. I'm guessing that 110ps would be the place to be if you want to do this, but someone who has remapped this excellent engine will be along soon no doubt to give you their insight. Good luck and post back with the results you get if you go ahead.

Thanks for the reply mate, it does feel like a cracker of an engine so far I must admit! I believe I may only aim for around 100ps area as just wanting that little boost ;) . Any ideas of how much these, maps usually cost btw?

Have go at browsing the likes of APR, REVO, JABBA SPORT and plenty of others. Plenty of people quite happy with new generation tuning boxes as well. Transferable and a doddle to fit or so I read :).

Don't forget to declare it to your insurers!

Aye jabbasport looked pretty good, heard some good reviews, and they are only in peterborough so not too far away from kettering :) .
