Koni sport suspension kit

Featured Replies

I've had my octy mk2 pre-fl tfsi for nearly a year now and I'm gonna do something about the handling.

The body rolls way too much in the corners, but it also dives way to much under acceleration and braking and because it rides way to high, I know I wouldn't be happy just getting the rarb upgraded to a whiteline one.

so after a bit of searching koni sport suspension kit with h&r 35mm springs seems to be a good solution but has anyone on here got this kit?

how should the rears be set for a comfortable, but sporty and fairly flat cornering ride? I've seen some settings on gti forums but they don't have as much weight over the rear axle.

I'm more concerned about the rear as I don't think they can be changed once they're on the car, but the fronts can

I've got Koni Sport with Eibach Pro Estate spec springs on my Elegance hatch.  The rear is firmer than the hatch springs would be & it dropped about 40mm F & 25mm rear - so it's got a bit of 1970s rake on it.  It's also got a vRS RSB that's had the moment arm shortened 20mm to stiffen the rear a bit more (20 minutes work).

F & R dampers were set 1/2 a turn from soft at the start but after 20,000km I moved the front to a full turn from soft.  Rear needs adjusting now (35,000km).  Removal is 3 bolts so it isn't terrible (some people say you have to remove the spring to get the lower bolt out but I find this isn't needed). I'd guess it's a 45 minute job as it's pretty much the same as replacing a damper.

I think with a 25mm+ drop it isn't a bad idea to trim the bump-stops about 10-20 mm as well.

I'm seriously thinking about going back to stock springs - mainly because I'm driving on more crap regional roads these days & need the ground clearance & my daughter is due to get her licence.  The Police will pay her less attention if she's at stock "tractor -spec" height.

Reconsider the RARB.

Unless you really just want lower.

I had konis on the first vrs. Absolute rubbish although I know koni later changed the spec.

It's been discussed many times - top kits seem to be bilstein b12 or H&R. H&r rear arb is also a very good upgrade.

Which Konis?  Adjustable Yellows or those horrible FSD "self adjusting" things?

I was thinking of going Koni top adjustables and stock springs when I eventually need to based on it being phenomenal on my Golf G60, but different cars all feel different.

How about Bilstein B8 with the slightly lower H&R springs? The Eibach ones aren't that low

as above why not just go for B8/B6 shocks + HR springs as it saves all the guess work of trying to tune the shocks when bilstein have done all the hard work, they are the same shocks used in the B12 kit so you can't really go wrong.

I have read good things about b12 kit and also the b8 dampers on their own, but there seems to be a lot of good words for the koni yellows on gti forums but less so on here. I would do the arb first but I don't like the front end dive and lift either
