Clock spring

Featured Replies

Anyone got any ideas?

Replaced indicator stalk.

Was very careful not to rotate the clock spring. After reassembly, everything works fine BUT there is an obvious 'clicking' sound when rotating the steering wheel. Like a plasticky clicking sound, definitely not electrical.

I have noticed a small 'spring' sticking out from the rotating surface. If I push this in and rotate then the clicking is not there anymore, so I know it's something to do with this mechanism but I can't see what I've done wrong. It is sprung so sticks out? Worked fine before reassembly. Would be very glad of any help here. The 'spring' thing I'm talking about is bottom centre of the image on eBay listing 281123089872

Many thanks in advance!

Sorted it for anyone that comes across this in future. Don't put the stalks back on as far as they will go, they need to sit slightly forward of that such that when all re-assembled the steering wheel pushes down on that little plastic sprung bit to keep it compressed. I'd measure back of wheel to stalk before you start so you have a reference point ;)
