cheap upgrades

Featured Replies

hi all, I'm putting myself on a budgets i won't be doing any major mods as I'm spending far too much money on my car haha, does any one have any cheap ideas on what i can do to my car?

Colour code the green V on the vrs badge so it's the same colour as your car.

Errr, clean it?

Seriously though it would help if you said how much your budget really is.

What's your starting point?

Totally standard?

What have you done already?

i have already washed it today so expect rain tomorrow, and my budget isn't exactly small, i just want little ideas on what i can do, to be fair i don't have a budget as such

i wish my fabia was a Vrs haha just a 1.4 comfort :)

so far already done is:

headlamps both main light and dipped to LED/plasma

sidelights to LED

rear lights to LED

interior lights to LED

new radio with bluetooth and ipod

interior seat covers taken off and washed

new pollen and air filers

duel fog light upgrade

fin aerial

carbon wrapped the interior dash

carbon wrapped the front bumper trim and reg holder

carbon wrapped the rear bumper trim

You could wrap/paint the chrome trim on the grill.

Remove door bump strips. Take care there's no lacquer peel.

Colour code some bits.

Buy some wind deflectors.

You seem to have it covered.

Vrs peddles? Steering wheel?

Ok, so it's a Christmas tree, now make it handle. You need to start with polybushing the front wishbones, then fit a set of Eibach pro springs, then a RARB, then some decent wheels and tyres, finally upgrade all the dampers. Do all that and you won't have to slow down to go round corners.

i like the sound of this

Front wishbone rear bushes to solid as a minimum. Then fit a RARB - probably the Whiteline's the best fit for the weight (lack of) with the 1.4. Possibly consider a VRS FARB if that makes it too exciting.

After doing the above, don't buy ditch finder tyres. Get decent ones and get the tracking/alignment done so they'll last.

A few years ago there were tailored seat covers or seat replacement coverings on eBay. In a variety of materials. Also also, consider carbonifying parts of the door cards.

That carbon wrapped dash looks awful.

Best thing I'd suggest it to take it all off.

Indeed we do. When abouts in Manchester are you from?

Aero twin wipers? Small mod but I fully rate them.

Good list of mods there!! What H3s are you using for your main beam? I have HiDs for my dipped and LED sidelights but yet to find a bright enough, white enough H3 Main Beam alternative,,,

Stereo upgrades? Door speakers, subwoofers, head units, amplifiers, crossovers and wiring can all he had very cheaply second hand.
