Wing Mirror

Featured Replies

Can someone please help with this..

I'm currently 175 miles from home staying with a mate up in Derby.

I left the car out in the street last night, went to the car this morning, and the passenger side wing mirror has been ripped off

I found it with just the miorror hanging by the wire.

The glass is intact, and nothing seems damaged with the motor/glass.

However, in order to drive the 175 miles back home, i'm going to have to either take it off completely, or stick it back on.

I believe that the way it is fixed onto the car is that there is like a shaft on the car, and inside the mirror housing, there is a spring with a massive washer type piece that sticks it all together. That washer looks broken (dented), so getting it back onto the car i dont think will be possible.

I can see the wire that connects the motor, but how do i disconnect it? the wire runs in, goes in underneath the motor and out the other side, and connects up underneath it.

So, is it going to be a case of unscrewing the two parts of the entire mirror housing apart?

How easy is this to do?

How much will it cost to have it done by Skoda (because it WILL need to go to Skoda :()

Thanks.

OK update

Managed to get the mirror off, so im driving around with one.

Should be fixable, it seems the washer that keeps the spring on is ruined, so it still may need some Skoda attention, but who knows.

Welcome to Derby..............now you know why I choose to lioe outside the place, make shottingham look a safe place to live!!

I'll look out for an octy with one mirror over the weekend and if you see a black VRS flash you ,it's me!!
