I ordered mine just before posting that - so just after 12:00 - and have also had the email that they have already been shipped!!!

I've fitted them to my Corrida Red Elegance and they look a lot better next to the red paintwork, black roof rails and black windscreen pillars. I got them from Skodadop.com (£50.40 incl delivery at current exchange rate with Czech Koruna).

Trying to decide which covers to choose as superskoda carbon are priced in euros at €79.99 with free p & p with 20% off and converted to £50 or monty Carlo black €59.99 less 20% =€48 or £38 plus p&p or skodadop kc1483 =£43 plus p&p or have I gone wrong

My L&K has always made me feel the same way, the flat silver mirrors just seem cheap for the top of the range car. And I know I won't be able to buy colour coded official mirrors for a magnetic chocolate metallic. Seeing how it's only available on the L&K.

I may also look into black covers.

Thanks for the comments.

So, on the unofficial poll, looks like the black covers get the vote (I think 'silver1011' may biased with such a nom de plume...!). If they had been a silver that matched the roof rails or even the side rubbing strip bright work they wouldn't be so bad but that flat silver....

The covers came in OEM Skoda packaging and cocooned in cotton bags - with instructions. Two clips to flick undone with a screwdriver and rotate the covers off.

PS 137699 - standby for a PM....

Bet they look good with you black roof bars now? Can you give me a bit more explanation on how you took the silver mirror caps off and fitted the black ones

Thanks

Anyone want to sell me their silver caps they've taken off? ;-)

Cheers

A quick how I did it - the mirror cover change (two threads on this subject now but I'm sticking to this one 'cos I started it.... :p  )

Firstly, note that Skoda to provide a simple 'how to' guide with the set of two covers that I bought through Superskoda.

1. Motor the mirror glass to fully down, (ie looking at the floor)

2. I eased the mirror assembly forwards (ie opposite way to how the electrics fold them) to make it easier to work on them

3. Carefully, with a flat blade screwdriver (or two at the same time if you can) release the clips that secure the cover to the mirror internals

4. Ease the cover forwards leading with the top to release the lower clips from the mirror base.

I actually removed the mirror itself as I wanted to release the mirror base to replace the puddle lamp bulb with an LED version (capless W5W bulb).

To remove the mirror:

1. Motor it fully inwards so you can slip gloved fingers at the outer edge and (with your eyes closed tightly....) - pull! It actually unclips pretty easily but remains attached by the heater element wires. The mirror is actually bonded to a plastic backing piece so isn't as fragile as you might think. This backing piece has a number of clips that mate with the motor unit inside the mirror.

2. With the mirror out of the way, you can release the cover clips more easily.

3. Then remove two Torx screws in the mirror housing that secure the bottom mirror base

4. This allows access to the bulb holder for the puddle lamp (and indicator repeater lamp)

Refitting for both of the above methods is the opposite of removal. Just make sure you treat all the plastic clips with respect and press the mirror carefully in its centre to reengage all the clips. Then stand back and admire your handiwork...

That's a great guide with perfect pics and instructions,I should have waited a couple of days because I had to take it steady for fear of breaking the glass, this is a great ref for anyone wanting to do either of the changes, thanks aerofurb

Did the silver trim on your side mouldings come from the factory or are they the ones from superskoda?

They are factory L&K ones.- I was eyeing them up when we did the roof rail swap. Unlike the superskoda versions, the silver is matte (not polished) and is ON the rubbing strips, not stuck above them.

Depends on your Yeti, if it was me I'd go carbon for a light colour and black for a lighter colour.

Don't like the idea of them being stuck above, it would have to be a full switch out, on the wish list it goes. Need to get the skirt mouldings on first. By the way, the silver bars look great.

I might change mine to just black. I hate that theirs no clear coat on them. Just dull boring matt finish

Things are a bit more black and white now

Mine is done now too.  I did it 20 minutes before driving to near Toulouse in France on the 5th. These black beauties now have 1,808 miles of French bugs splattered over them!

Before:

After:

I love how the mirror is now nearly an identical match to the A-pillar.

And had to take a picture in France in the vineyards:

Perhaps we can get a sub-clan going like that dodgy 16" wheel lot....?

Oh, and Rog, sorry - I'm hanging onto my flat silver covers as an emergency spare just in case one of the nice black ones gets pheasanted.

900000 - Loving the vineyard photo. Looks like it was a lovely day and you gotta love a Steel Grey Yeti (but then I'm biased!).

Aerofurb - No probs. No harm in asking...

Cheers

'Scuse me - who are you calling 'dodgy'?  A lot of members happily put 16's on for the winter; the UK16"SpecialBuildClub simply prefers them all year round!
