What to do..

Featured Replies

As some of you know my latest purchase hasn't been the greatest of vehicles. In 3 months of ownership its been back to the main dealer 3 times for various faults. Some of which still are not resolved and further problems have occurred whilst in their care. Having looked this evening WBAC are offering me more than my settlement figure so in theory I'd get way over by part exing.

My thoughts are:-

Get rid whilst I'm still in an OK position finance wise and go and buy something else (mk2 Octy VRS, Superb, Clio Renaultsport for example)

Keep the S-Max and hope that the car doesn't get any worse/ stays reliable now the main issues have been resolved. Its on a 40month HP..

I really don't know and just thinking out loud I guess.

If you aren't happy then I'd look at ditching it for something else. Sounds like you fancy a motor with abit more poke?

Just keep in mind WBAC are notorious for savaging down the price they are actually willing to pay once they have seen the car!

+1 on that front

Depends how much confidence you have in the car now too, if you're constantly thinking what will go wrong next with the car get rid and save yourself the worry

The 140bhp in the S-Max is OK. Its not the quickest thing ever but it does me fine. I'm used to having power from 5 pot Volvos but its OK. I actually really like the car but its been so unreliable that I just don't know of I can trust it.

What I really want is a 4.2 TDI Audi A8 but they are out of budget with sensible mileages.

What's up with the smax? We use them as our main patrol vehicles and they are spot on for us.

Faulty light sensor, vacuum solenoids, injectors leaking diesel all over engine bay, drivers seat reclining by itself so has to be adjusted daily. Dealer broke parking sensor (snapped clip holding in place) and also broke hinges of dashboard cubby.

In 3 months of ownership.

Edit:- oh and I occasionally get a "front light malfunction" I have adaptive front lights that bend etc..so probably that as all bulbs are OK. Flashes on then off again on dash.

Same position as me, had to pay out on my Ford as well, looking at a E36 M3 for something completely different!
