Maintenance and Tyre package question.

Featured Replies

I currently have a maintenance and tyre package as part of my lease from Skoda on my Yeti Greenline. The 16" wheels niggle me as they are just that bit too small for the arches. If I swop out to say OEM 17" wheels will Skoda adjust my plan to supply 17" tyres?

The wheels will only fill your arch better if you have bigger wheels with the same or bigger profile tyre.

Then you get issues with speedo readings and other things though...

Aye, ive been looking at treating myself to some alloys recently also, if you are to fit bigger rims, you need lower profile tyres so your wheel circumference stays the same, else you will find your speedo will be out, ie. at 60mph your speedo will display less, making it possible to be caught out by a speed camera unknowingly :p or more so, your milage would be incorrect over long distances.

ps. if its the look of fuller arches you want,  then do the usual and lower the height of the ride slightly :P

All taken into account, lowering isn't an option yet as there's no springs the 2014 Yeti Greenline, be interesting though as it already sits lower than standard yetis

Unless it was a factory or dealer mod you'll void the tyre element.

The agreement will only be for what was on it when the deal was started/car supplied by Skoda.

& as said, filling the arches would require much bigger circumference tyres which you will not want to do.

so it will be down to lowering the car,

or maybe a little bigger tyres, and rims more offset, and going for Stance and optical illusions.

Which as it's leased you'll need to get permission from them to do.

Being a lease car you cannot change most things without their permission as you simply drive it. They own it.

Leased from Skoda not a separate company and the owner of Mitchell Skoda is a good friend so hopefully they can sort it out.

Have you checked that your insurance company will allow you to make these changes?

If it's leased from Skoda the dealer is irrelevant. Everything has to be approved by Skoda before the dealer is paid, so unless the dealer is happy to foot any shortfall, regardless of having friends there it will be difficult to pull off.

If you lease or have company cars generally getting authorisation to change anything is near impossible.

If you want even on lease, you can purchase a set of wheels, use them on the vehicle during the period of the lease as long as the Insurance Company are happy.

As you would with a Winter set, or say as you might if you had to travel to some Mainland European Countries in Winter.

So you pay for your Wheels/Tyres, fit them, cover cost and any damage, and keep them for the next vehicle if suitable, or sell on.

£600 outlay possibly, and £400 recovered after selling them, or maybe even less than £200 cost. Its what many do.
