Removing dents

Just back from a 2,000 mile jaunt around France with a fully-laden Octavia vRS Estate (4-up, 2 weeks worth of camping gear and a roofbox). Car ran faultlessly. Only slight issue was a judder that appeared on my newly fitted discs & pads, but I'm not worried about that.

Of more concern is the dent I now have in the bonnet after my father-in-law dropped his side of the roof box while helping me to remove it.     Does anyone have any advice on dent removal? From many years in the trade I know of several de-dent specialists but quite fancy having a go myself, particularly as the dent is on a single-skinned, easily accessible part of the bonnet and has not broken the paint. It's about 5cm long and I estimate about 2mm deep, a bit less now as I pushed it by hand from under the bonnet.

Anyone done it?
