Recommendations for a new Head Unit for Fabia Mk1

Featured Replies

As the title suggests, I'm not blown away by the Symphony head unit. I have the optional 6 CD changer under the seat too.

I will probably want to stick with CD for now given that I've precious little on MP3, do not possess an iPod (even though I'm in the audio design business!) so if at all possible wondered whether retaining the CD changer is on the cards or whether I'd be better with a new single DIN or doudle DIN CD radio, with or without LCD screen/satnav (I use a separate garmin satnav anyway).

If there's a decent head unit which can be installed with the minimum of fuss, with or without the satnav option, I'd be interested to learn of your recommendations for those who've actually done this mod to a Mk1 Fabia.

Cheap and cheerful is ok too, as long as a decent upgrade results just no Chinese non-branded rubbish considered.

I intend to upgrade front and rear speakers later for which I understand I'll need an adaptor to use some other standard speaker mounts.  I want to retain the standard cut outs in door cards and raeer shelf so it all looks standard.

Thanks in advance.

Not to worry RE recommendations (none were made anyway LoL!).  I have decided to do the sensible thing and simply replace the front speakers for much better quality units.  The head unit should be good enough and  thinking about it, I still have the CD changer, so all I need to sort is Bluetooth for the phone which I can do with a cheap aftermarket Bluetooth kit.
