The bulb upgrades have arrived but can't figure out how you access the side/running light bulbs! Any how to guides with pics?

Thanks Gizmo, I'm going to,have a play around on Sunday afternoon.

I struggled with this. When you remove the round dust cover you can reach right in following the wires and the unit just pulls out. It’s very tight. Getting it back in was harder as trying to get the clip the correct way round was a fiddle. I did all this just to find that the bulbs fine but the connection must be poor. Luckily I went into the o/s, the n/s looks more difficult. I don’t know why the instructions are not in the manual. I have a 2016 2.0 diesel 4x4.

My Yeti is a 64 reg Outdoor. My offside DRL/sidelight has stopped functioning - presumably because the bulb has gone. The manual lists those bulb replacements which an owner can undertake. This one is not amongst them. I can get my hand inside the headlamp unit and can feel the back of the bulb housing. I've noted the information, somewhere, from a Skoda mechanic about pulling on the wires to get the bulb out. I cringe at the thought of doing, this but it would seem to be the only way to do it, whether the headlamp is removed or not. I might get my wife to see if she can get a grip on the bulb housing with her smaller hand.

In the 5+ years since this issue last had an airing, has anyone actually managed to identify the bulb, please? Ideally I would like to source one before trying to get the existing one out. Also, it sounds as though the bulb/housing is a push-fit into the back of the reflector. Can anyone confirm this, please?

Many thanks.

What model is your Yeti, my Elegance has LED DRLs.

Hadn't seen the post from Marky2019 when I submitted my question above. Looks as though jiggling the connector around might be worth a try for a start, in case it's a bad connection. Am slightly puzzled by the reference to there being a clip when it is said that the bulb just pulls out. Marky - did you identify the bulb, please? Many thanks.

It's a 2014 Outdoor SE TSI.

Further to my posts above on this topic, I managed to remove the bulb this morning. I found it to be an ordinary looking two-pin affair - certainly not an LED. Fortunately my local garage sells Skodas and he had a replacement in stock. The Volkswagen Group part number is 10776301. It cost £26.90. I see what Marky2019 meant about the clip on the bulb-mount. It will only fit a particular way round, presumably to ensure that the bulb filament aligns with the curvature of the reflector. Inserting the bulb through the reflector hole and then rotating it until reaching the right position, single-handed and working blind,  was a tricky operation in the limited space available. Question now is, one side having gone, how long will the other side last?

Regarding Urrell's comment that his 2015 Elegance has LED DRLs, I wonder whether the spec changed in 2015 (mine's 2014) or could it be that the higher spec models have LEDs?

Thanks for the help on here.

Higher spec models had LED DRL's, for example my SE L.

£27 for a bulb? 😯😯😯

Yes, that's right. It comes with an integral metal bulb carrier. I could have possibly found something cheaper if I had known the original part number. As it is, I was pleased to find one locally and get the job sorted.- complete with grazed knuckles!

Sorry for the thread revival.

Just picked up a 2011 PFL Yeti and It has the 10776301 bulbs in it.

I managed to remove one side from the light housing and it plugs into a main  socket housing that has the power wires into it. There's a button on this main  socket housing that releases another plug socket that is rectangular and has the bulb plugged into it. All very confusing but the bulb plugs into a plug with a rectangular bit that plugs into the main wired plug that fits into the light housing.

My question is, how does the bulb release from the plug to allow replacement?

Cheers

PFL Yeti??
10776301 bulbs??
None of that is understandable.
Exactly what bulbs are you talking about?

Pre face lift

Part number 10776301 aka PW24W bulbs that are used for DRL in the top of the round light housings located below and inward of the main headlights. The bottom of these round light housings is used for the front fog lights.

The top bulb holder is in several sections that split apart but the bulb is not easily removable. Understandable if you have replaced the bulbs.

I am just looking for information on how the bulb is removed / replaced.
