interior lights

Featured Replies

Hi all I've just changed my interior lights to led ones all round including boot which worked.. went to lock and unlock car to check and now nothing works on interior lights puzzled changed bulbs back to standard and still nothing any guess

thanks

Have you tried cycling the ignition? I found when doing the same earlier that some of the lights eventually went out if doors left open etc for a long period of time. Probably some kind of battery saver kicking in.

Yeah tried that I left doors open for awhile will recheck maybe that's what has happened...

No that's didn't work either god know only changed bulbs

Also I imagine the interior lights are possibly on the same fuse. Is it possible you shorted something and blew a fuse?

  • Author

Yeah that's what I was guessing but I do t see any fuses under the bonnet gone..

It will be the fuses behind the panel on the right side of the dashboard. With the drivers door open use your key to unclip the end dash panel and they are behind there.

Glad you found it. You have have shorted out the light while replacing the bulbs perhaps?

Get a few as spares to carry in the car too... can be a life saver!

Yeah i did i know what done it was the bloody boot lights i changed

  • 3 months later...

What bulbs did you put into the boot lights? I want to replace mine too but most of the LEDs i have seen emit light 360deg and I am worried about the light emitted from the 'back' of the bulbs making things very hot behind the boot lining. Are there LEDs that only emit 180deg (i.e. only have LEDs on one side of the unit.

Thanks,

LED,s don't get that hot but the original 501 bulbs do. Had mine in for 7 years with no problems and they were 360 degree ones :)

If you want to get adventurous, you could do what some of us have done and put led strips on the parcel shelf support mounts - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/296063-how-to-install-front-door-puddle-leds/ - see post #19.

If you fancy the idea, more detail here - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/294940-led-puddle-lights/page-4?hl=+puddle%20+lights

I have door puddles front and rear and boot leds, and they are very bright this time of year - unlike the oem candle.

The only issue you may have on the later octy is that the canbus may pickup the led, but ours are wired extra to the standard bulb so presumably the canbus system would still see a load - just something to think on.

Ok, that's really helpful. Thanks. Think I'll get shopping!

The interior lights are on fuse 15 with a mini 7.5A fuse.
