Hard install!!!

Be jezus !! looks like a 5 year old did it..... not too sure how safe it is to drive with those red wires all over the brake/clutch/acc pedals.

As a friend of mine says, buy cheap .... buy twice.

Not the tidiest install Ive ever seen, but if your happy with that, thats all that matters

I may be missing sarcasm here but is the red not an outline on the mats?

That's what I saw

It is indeed the carpet trim lol..

Yes. But the sub itself looks to be held in place with a bungee cord and the amp and wiring is all just plonked on top. It probably works like a dream, but it's pretty ugly and it takes up a lot of otherwise useful space.

Compare it to the Korban Mk I install where the combined sub and amplifier is sandwiched between the original boot floor and a new false boot floor. It's neat, tidy and 100% usable.

Aye I don't think anyone is arguing that the install is tidy, mores that there just aren't wires spread around the pedal, personally I wouldn't ever bother with a sub, but if I was to I'd get one that fitted into the spare wheel or something as to remain out of sight.

Same!

My local car stereo specialist said he could even built a mini sub into the sides of the boot between the wheel arch and the boot door.

I'm not sure how good that would be, but he reckons its entirely doable and would improve the sound no end

Personally I was pleasantly surprised by the stock stereo and speakers that come with the fabia lol. Never really been into the whole earthshaking bass / jackhammer thing. I'd rather hear my music than just a rumbling sound.

Lloyd is doing one for Group1RS if you see the project thread :) my Fabia radio was pretty appalling

A good set up system isnt about earth trembling bass (thats just boy racers), its about hearing your music as close to how its supposed to be heard as possible (for me).

Clarity is the buff thing for me, but needs to be matched with decent mids and lows.

Your are correct there, i don't think i would do too well when trying to see certain shapes in those multi coloured pictures !

Agree, in my previous car (vw passat) i have a genesis 5 channel series 3 amp, JL Audio sub, Rainbow fronts and standard rears.......fitted all in a stealth install, looked and sounded stunning. The thing that needs to be done is to fit it with decent inter connects and ensure that the delays from the front L/R (and rear if you have any) are correct, given when we are sat in our cars we are closer to the right speaker than the left so to get the full stereo effect it has to be set up correctly, the system sounded so good it was better than what i had in my home !

Im happy with the install! To say i have done this off a standard head unit they isnt any out puts on the back so you had to scotch on to the wireing to the rear speakers, the wire in the fuse box is just for the power eg when you turn the engine on the they is power to the amp, okay it isnt the tidiest install in the boot but it temporary as im thinking of a custom install for more space! The sound is great the wires arent just all over the place in the boot!

Re subs in space behind the rear wheel wells; any boxed speakers will add significant bass output. The problem with the factory system is that there is a very weak acoustic seal between the sound pressure generated by the back of the speakers (in the doors) and the inside of the car, causing the energy generated to be cancelled out to a large extent. That and the speakers no doubt have a high Q factor since they're designed to be operated in this environment, meaning a high resonant frequency as well, maybe 80Hz.

How have you wired it into the back of the head unit? as you would have to cut cables to be able to get the red and black cables on?
