Interior - Fabia vs Polo

Featured Replies

Friend of mine has an 05 Polo and having been in my Fabia wishes he'd come to the dark side ;)

Commented that the dash/interior looked classier and better built. Seemed odd to me; I thought it was generally thought that VW interiors are classier than Skoda ones. Certainly my previous generation Polo had a more "funky" interior (with the rings round the dials, the red needles, blue illumination and the pimpled plastic) although the Fabia certainly seems at least equally well assembled, even if the perceived quality of some of the plastics is perhaps not as good.

Your friend should try getting in an Ibiza. Now thats poor.

The last time I sat in a Polo I remember commenting on the flimsy and hard plastics AND it rattled like a meeting at Mothercare. It was a courtesy car and had done 1200 miles! Crossed off the shopping list immediately

I'm in my second week of Fabia VRS ownership and have just switched from a 53 Polo and I have to say that the Fabia wins. I'm not saying this just because it is a new car, I honestly prefer the dashboard design and although some poeple call it bland I much prefer it to the polo's which really looks like an afterthought compaired to that of other VW's such as the golf. Build quality and fit generally seems to be nicer on the fabia too.

I think the polo *looks* better but I've never been in one on the move so I can't comment on how solidly built it is.

My mum had a 1.4 TDi PD Polo. I don't know if the new 'facelift' (presumably done by the same people responsible for Michael Jackson's boat race) has changed the interior, but from what I remember, the centre console was a mass of plasticky knobs and buttons. Plus a 'look everyone - I'm too poor for Sat Nav' dish in the middle of the dash. It may have been made of better materials, but I think it looked cheaper, except for the cupholders - they were OK. Didn't seem any better or worse put together than my Fabia.

Looks-wise, I prefer my Fabia, but I could be biased!

I've always preferred the Fabia dash to the Polo dash - indeed my dad has a Polo TDI Sport and the vRS looked far better interior-wise. However, I seem to remember at the time nobody agreeing with me

My boss had a Polo hire car briefly while waiting for his new car. The inside looked nice from a distance, but seemed a bit flimsy. By contrast my Fabia's interior is very simple - almost stark, even - but seems solid and well put together.

I borrowed my mum's Focus the other day and the dash in that is offensively "busy" compared to the Fabia...

I prefer the Fabia dash to the Golf CITI one. I don't know for sure what the Polo dash looks like in real life. They always look good in photos but pants in life.

I thought the CITI Golf dash WAS a Fabia dash, just with some stainless vent surrounds?

It certainly looks the same in the pics i've seen.

I was playing guys. It is the same as the early Fabia dash.
