The standard size of tyre for the Superb on 17s is 225x45x17 (7Jx17) but I am after some 7.5Jx17 wheels........ will the same size tyres fit ok or will they have to be wider because the rims are wider?

Will be fine. Same as the Octy I think. Some peeps recommend 225/45 over the usual factory fit of 205/50

not all tyres have rim protectors....it's basically a small lip that protudes a little from the tyre to protect rim.

Toyo Proxes, Goodyear GSD3 F1 and Pirelli Rosso have them for sure. You're looking at at least

My toyo's come with a rim protector but basically it does sweet Fanny Adams! :grumpy: Usually if I rub a kerb it takes out a good chunk of the "protector" as well as grazing the rim. :(

yeah 225/45 should be fine, i have 1 almost brand new 225/45 tyre in my shed ill be selling cheap and another worn but still legal one

I'll see if I get the wheels first and then have a hunt round for tyres ....I know some sizes are more popular and therefore cheaper than others
