Fabia 1.4 mpi sump replacement

Featured Replies

Hi I have a leak from the sump plug on my fabia being over tightened, now it doesn't go tight enough to stop oil coming out just keeps turning. I have been trying to get a replacement on eBay but am struggling to find the correct one, could anyone tell me where I could get one or a part number? I tried searching for the stamp (036103603R) on the bottom but had no luck. Car is a w reg 1.4 mpi fabia. Thanks for any help

might be easier if you find which engine code it is, Open the boot and lift the cover (to reveal the spare wheel) there will be a sticker on the LHS. which will have an Engine code. something like:

AQW if it is a 1.4MPI without A/C

then if you ebay search

"AQW Sump" (jsut as an example) it has come out with quite a few second hand ones around the £20 mark.

I can tell it's your favourite engine as you do seem to be knowledgeable about it! :) any common faults with them?

Rattly timing chain.

looking at ETKA, all the 1.4 MPI engines shared the same sump so the PN you need is:

047 103 602 H

or something like this (no link with seller):

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-2001-1-4-8v-MPI-AQW-Oil-Sump-Pan-047103602G-Complete-car-breaking-/261587627761?hash=item3ce7d66ef1

these sumps are fitted with a 3mm bead of sealant around the flanged perimeter, make sure you go on the inside edge of the flange to stop oil leaking through the bolt holes.

Rattly timing chains as TMB said, also Thermostat/Temp sensors.

the thermostat housing is also plastic and i ahve seen a few over tightened which then seal like a sieve!

Thank you for the quick response, will go out and check that

Ahh so not too much then! Just getting a heads up before the 17th

Ally head so they had issues with Head Gasket Failures, but if its fitted with a "TEMAC" head gasket then there is a lesser chance of it failing provided its fitted correctly of course. The label can be seen on the front right hand side of the engine (when viewing the engine bay from the front of the car, above Cylinder No.4)

Ahh right okay :)

What's happening on the 17th? :p

Also, not a fault as such, but they do tend to have a lumpy idle.

to meet the EU3 emissions (the engine was bind at Euro 4) it essentially keeps trimming back the fuel till its about to stall then dump loads of fuel to pickup the revs again lol.

so revs can fluctuate around 200-300 revs at tickover.

So you're buying it like that and fixing it up?  Looks like it's got one of those nasty foam jackets on the PAS pump. Rip it off while the bumper's off

That's the plan and run it as a daily!

Hi just saw your reply must have missed it last night, so that sump on your link is the part I need? I had a look and the engine code on my car is aub but still struggling to see one on eBay, will be great if that fits as it's been a nightmare trying to get this sorted. Cheers

For an AUB engine in a 2000 Fabia, you seem to need 032103603AB. Item 21 on this page.  Looking at the prices of a quick ebay search on that part number, you may wish to consider secondhand from a scrappie.

Have phoned a couple of scrappies who said they didn't have any sumps and one said my best bet is eBay lol. Don't really want to pay 150 quid for a second hand sump

I'm confused. In your first post you said the car is a 1.4 MPI. The AUB engine is the 1.4 16 valve, a totally different engine.

Sorry obviously that was wrong it is actually the 16v engine
