Bird poo, etch marks and bumpers vs normal painted panels

Featured Replies

So a bird left a nasty deposit on my VRS bumper.

Sat in the sun for at least a day, maybe two.

Poo removed, and a light attack with G-Techniq P1 has not removed the etch mark that remains. Very feint but I can see it. Polish applied by hand with not very hard pressure (newbie) using foam applicator - white firm side.

So my question. Are bumpers painted the same as normal panels?

ie paint with clear coat on top.

I don't want to go banzai with the polish and make a silly mistake!

It may need a more aggressive polish?

Help, comments etc......

It might be different with bumper being plastic, I can't believe it hasn't come out though.

Do you have a pic of what remains of the pap?

I could machine polish it out for you for nowt. Doing silly hours at work so will be a few weeks ?

A quick polish with my rotary will sort it.

No charge of course, for such a small job

How do you know that? Have you seen it? Has it damaged the lacquer?

Will try to get a pic but as it's so fine I doubt I could capture it.

Yes I'm fussy but no pint doing this cleaning / detaining lark by half!

Chris is local to me so will have a drive by his for a reccie and quick polish.

Cheers so far for comments.

Big thanks to ChrisRs, popped up today and a very quick machine polish removed it.

Tried to get a picture but it was such a slight mark I couldn't capture it, not well enough to make it worth posting here anyway.

I could just feel the mark with my finger.

I sort of wanted a machine polisher before, want one even more now!

Cheers again Chris. Top job and free. I like free!

Nice one guys. Glad it's all sorted.

Well done ChrisRS, I had every faith that if the mark could be removed you would be the man to do it.

WookieeM - Now you have to maintain the protection to prevent any further accidental etching from bird droppings.

Indeed I do need to keep it up.

Must say the bumper probably has the least protection on it. Waxed back in March then BSD every now and then.

I did the bumper but not as lovingly as the main panels etc.

But soon I will be doing a winter clean and protection.

With lashings of Collinite 476S - everywhere!
