Octavia Vrs PD170

Not a project thread as such, just a thread showing what I've done to my car since I've owned it. I've had it nearly 3 months now. Since then I've added a few personal touches which can be seen below.

When I first got the car

Then fitted a splitter, wind deflectors, window tints and also replaced all badges with the new Skoda badge.

I wanted to see what the wheels would look like in gunmetal, I used Plasti Dip. It worked ok but it started to peel so I ripped it off.

Since owning the car I've never really been keen on the only piece of chrome which was the grill surround. So last week I took it off and painted it the same colour as the car. Personally I think it looks loads better!

And most recent photo. The other night I Laminex'd the fog lights, tinted the rear lights slightly and I also repaired the fog light surrounds where the paint had chipped. Very happy with the results.

That is looking pretty smart, I'm liking the splitter and Lamin-X on fogs.

Very nice indeed :-)

Thank you.

I'm going to concentrate on the paint work now. It was an ex police car and seems they used a stanley blade to scrape the stickers off.

That's just what I am after!!

You had to remove the bumper to fit the splitter

How you fix it?

Does look good tho!!

I'm sure you could fit it while the bumper is still attached to the car however this would be tricky and very long winded. It's easy enough to remove the bumper. The splitter came supplied with nuts and bolts along with strong adhesive. The splitter has pre drilled pilot holes, so it's just a case of lining it up to the bumper and drilling. Didn't take long.

That the one in the link?

Looks just like a seat one do they fit?

The one in the link is the exact same I have on my car. It's specifically for the pre fl vrs octavia. But I have seen the Seat Leon FR splitters on some octavia's but wouldn't know how easy it is to fit.

Could you tell me where you got the new skoda badges from mate, and also how easy where they to fit?

Got the badge of eBay. The new Citigo front badge is the one for the front, it has 3 plastic pins on the back, they didn't seem to fit on the octavia so I broke them all off and used the adhesive stuff that's already on. For the rear I've heard the new Fabia rear badge fits.

Did you buy your splitter from that link ? Is the surface a smooth finish ?
