What have you got under the dash

Featured Replies

Accidental dropped some loose change into the drivers footwell getting out of the car and while retrieving it I noticed that there is no cover under the dash, leaving various wires etc exposed, albeit out of the way above the foot pedals. So I had a look on the passenger side but this seems more finished off, with a strip of 'blanket' material sealing around what I assume is the bottom of the glove-box.

Am I missing a cover on the drivers side, or have they not bothered in case it came loose and interfered with the foot pedals :wonder:

TP

just had a look and mine is open too although all neat and tidy and secured, Passenger side is as you say some fabric but mine has some plastic mesh on top of that!

More cost cutting I think.....................

I had a look at them in the dealers & the build & design were not 14yrs advanced on my 2000 build Fabia......IMO.............defo done down to a cost for the India & China markets...............

My liftback's the same, noticed it not long after I bought it... doesn't really bother me very much but it did surprise me.

'Our' Rapid isn't sold in India.

Can't say I've noticed this on mine in the 18 months I've had the car but will have a look tomorrow!

Probably one of the many reasons that road noise seems an issue now and again. I had the pleasure of driving a Rolls Royce Phantom a few years ago and one of the many nice features was the shag pile carpet (you could run your fingers through it, it was that thick!) and how quiet it was... Now I'm not expecting our rapids to be phantom standard but skoda have had to cut down on cost and weight so I'm not surprised that there are a few things not where you might expect them.

On the subject of finishing things off neatly and tidily do you have any opinion on the untidy cables, tubes, pipes bits and bobs that hang down under the rear end of the car.  Walking to the car up a hill from certain angles it looks very untidy.

I can't see anything that has detatched itself --just looks unfinished.

When I read  "whats under your dash" it made my think of one of the worst things I have come across with my car.  It is LHD. The clutch pedal in directly in line with the steering column.  It is very easy until you learn to sit twisted towards the centre of the car, to slap your left foot on fresh air or to just catch the edge of the pedal and skid off.  Don't like it at all.

I've noticed this to, I thought a rear brake cable might have come detached at one point.
