Passenger electric window and mirror issue

Featured Replies

I've frequented these forums fairly regularly since I first met my girlfriend a couple of years ago, but this is my first post.

I've steadily fixed a stream of problems: broken window regulator (caused by a buffoon), faulty temperature sender, faulty thermostat, leaking door carriers, throttle body caked up with oil deposits, blown speakers, poor radio reception, boot release switch, leaking radiator... there's a long list, and that isn't comprehensive, but she's done nearly 124,000 miles now, so can't complain too much as she's generally a great car.

She suffers from the standard rough idle that seems to go with the 1.4 8v MPI. She also cuts out irregularly, illuminating the EPC light, but starts straight away on key off and back on. In an attempt to resolve these issues, in the near future I'll be getting the MAP sensor out and giving it a clean, and also replacing the timing chain.

The reason why I've decided to post is due to an issue with a solution that is completely evading me.

The passenger side electric window and mirror stop working every now and again for no apparent reason. It's only the left hand side, and I've checked everything I can think of, so any recommendations would be highly appreciated. The journey to working this morning was unpleasant, and as I was the passenger today, very unpleasant with cold air buffeting in my face... I can get the door card and motor off in under 4 minutes these days, so it wasn't a issue getting the window back up.

This issue comes and goes intermittently and hasn't shown itself for a good few months, until today.

Posted this a while back. Has anyone got any ideas?

I'd check the wiring between the door and the A pillar. I've got a few problems with the central locking system, when the passenger door was opened, the locking mechanism was working for some reasons, doing something .. alien-ish. The wires are old and might need to be replaced.
